Apple is soon expected to launch its much-rumoured successor of the iPhone SE, which is likely to be called either the iPhone SE2 or the iPhone 9. According to the latest report, the starting price of the iPhone 9 is expected to be $399 (approximately Rs 28,466). A report mentioned that according to their sources, the upcoming iPhone is likely to be around the same price as the first iPhone SE. The latest report puts emphasis on previously predicted prices by Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, who had stated that the starting price of the iPhone 9 would be $399. Apple launched the iPhone SE in 2016 at $399, but Apple discontinued the device in September 2018.

As per earlier leaks, the iPhone 9 is expected to come with a 6.1-inch LCD display. It is likely to come equipped with Full Active display supplied by Japan Display. The upcoming iPhone, the first device to be launched by Apple in 2020, will have a single camera along with an LED flash. The device might come powered with the A12 chip from Apple. The power key is expected to be positioned on the right and the ring/silent switch, as well as volume rocker, will be to the left. The bottom of the iPhone 9 is expected to sport dual speakers with a Lightning connector in between.

iPhone lovers have a reason to cheer as Apple has reportedly taken a big step towards starting the mass production of iPhone 9, which is scheduled to launch in March. In order to build up a large level of stock ahead of the smartphone’s official launch, Apple has ordered an early batch of 30 million units of the iPhone 9, reported Chinese site MyDrivers.

According to report, Apple could kick off full mass production by mid-February. The company has started trial production to iron out any issues and ensure assembly lines run smoothly. However, the recent coronavirus outbreak in China may impact Apple’s production plans and could delay some units by a few weeks.

Besides the iPhone 9, Apple is reportedly planning to unveil a revamped iPad Pro, which will be equipped with the A13X Bionic processor and an advanced triple-camera setup on the back with an entirely new 3D sensing system. If previous reports are anything to go by, then the new 3D sensing system is expected to be even more powerful than Apple’s existing Face ID technology, introduced in September 2017 on the iPhone X.

Reports also suggest that the tech giant is working on Tile-like tracking tags for months under the name ‘AirTags.’ The new tags would rely on the U1 Ultra Wideband chip, which will allow users to track items with much more accuracy than permitted over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Apart from the aforementioned products, Apple is also rumoured to come up with a small wireless charging mat and a pair of premium over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones.

Apple iPhone 9, Wireless Charging Mat, iPad Pro, High-End Headphones, Coming in First Half of 2020

Apple could announce a new iPhone, updated iPad Pro and MacBooks, a new wireless charger and a new pair of Bluetooth headphones by early 2020.

Apple is said to working on launching a range of new products in the first half of 2020, including a pair of high-end headphones. The tech giant may unveil the headphones, tag trackers, updated versions of iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air, The Verge reported citing a research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

It is rumoured that Apple could release a 4.7-inch LCD equipped iPhone and a new wireless charger. The 4.7-inch LCD iPhone is expected to have the same design as the iPhone 8 with updated, iPhone 11-caliber specifications. This will be similar to what happened with the original iPhone SE, which borrowed the iPhone 5 design and was updated with the improved camera and processor from the iPhone 6S.

The Apple AirTags will be equipped with a Tile-like Bluetooth tracker that would use ultra wideband (UWB), which can help track down lost items. One of the most talked-about products is a wireless charging mat with a new, smaller wireless charger. Apple, while announcing the iPhone X in September 2017, had announced the AirPower wireless charger and had said that it could charge an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods all at once using a multiple-coil design. The company had also said the custom, software-based features would allow for an iPhone to show charge levels for all charging devices. However, the product was eventually canceled.

Apple is also said to be working on new high-end Bluetooth headphones. However, there is no certainty as to whether the headphones will be based on the same over-ear noise-canceling models or an entirely new device. Apple has been quite successful with its AirPods range and this could be a nice addition to the category.

Apple is expected to produce a total of six million units of the iPhone SE2, also called the iPhone 9, between the period of January 1 and March 31. As per a report, Cowen analyst and Managing Director Krish Sankar has claimed that the tech giant will be producing a total of six million pieces of iPhone SE 2 between January 1 and March 31. With this information, rumours about the phone’s launch in March seem to be more believable.

Sankar also added that the upcoming iPhone will probably be priced at $475 and will account for 12 percent of all iPhone production in Apple’s second quarter. This also means that the rest of the 40 million phones will be mostly iPhone 11 series phones including the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Apple in its first quarter, which is from October 1 to December 30, had apparently produced a total of 70 million iPhones of which 52 million phones were iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models.

As per estimates, the company will target making another 43 million iPhones in its third fiscal quarter which ends on June 30. Further, analysis claims that the brand will ship a total of 195 million iPhones in this fiscal year which is from October 1, 2019, to September 29, 2020.

It is rumoured that the iPhone 9 will have a 4.7-inch notch-less LCD display and will also have a home button with Touch ID, advanced single-lens camera and the A13 Bionic processor. According to an image shared on Twitter, the imaging sensor of the upcoming device looks much bigger and thicker than the one on the back of the iPhone 8. This will most likely mean better camera performance. Till now it is not clear as to when Apple will launch the iPhone SE 2, and what will be the final name of the device. But if Apple launches the handset at a competitive price, it could work in favour of the company.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max to be Thinner than iPhone 11 Pro Max: Report

Apple’s upcoming top of the line offering, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, is expected to be approximately 10 percent thinner than iPhone 11 Pro Max, said a report published in Japanese website Macotakara. The iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a thickness of around 7.4mm, while the iPhone 11 Pro Max has a thickness of 8.1mm. The report, which cited a source within Apple’s supply chain in China, said the US-based tech giant will be rolling out four models for iPhone 12 this year, and all four of these devices will have OLED displays.

The 6.7-inch device is likely to be a bit taller and will house triple-lens rear camera with comparatively larger sensors than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The upcoming flagship, which will only be available in the 5G model, is expected to be an ultra-premium model for 2020. Moreover, if market rumours are to be believed then, there is a possibility that the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be the first iPhone to support the Apple Pencil.

The report goes on to say that the smaller 5.4-inch iPhone 12 model will have dimensions falling between the iPhone SE and iPhone 8, while the 6.1-inch version will be somewhere between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The 6.7-inch iPhone 12 will be slightly taller than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Notably, the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 is not the same as the highly rumoured ‘affordable’ iPhone 9/SE 2. This will be a part of the iPhone 12 lineup and could be introduced during the fall event. So essentially the iPhone lineup for 2020 could look like this:

iPhone 9/SE 2 having similar design as iPhone 8 with Home button and Touch ID – March

5.4-inch OLED iPhone, rear dual-camera – Fall

6.1-inch OLED iPhone, rear dual-camera – Fall

6.1-inch OLED, rear triple-camera and time-of-flight 3D tech – Fall

6.7-inch OLED, rear triple-camera and time-of-flight 3D tech – Fall
