PUBG Mobile 'Mysterious Jungle' Mode to Arrive on June 1: Everything We Know

PUBG Mobile 'Mysterious Jungle' Mode to Arrive on June 1: Everything We Know

PUBG Mobile will be adding a new Mysterious Jungle mode to the tropical map of Sanhok.

  • Last Updated: May 28, 2020, 3:19 PM IST

A new addition is yet again headed to PUBG Mobile and this time it is the ‘Mysterious Jungle’ mode. There isn’t a lot of information regarding what players expect, but we do know that the mode will be focusing on the tropical map of Sanhok.

According to the official information shared by the PUBG Mobile team, “ Sanhok’s look and feel and landscape, it is the most appropriate map to host a jungle-themed mode.” There are going to be some in-map modifications, as well as new jungle-themed outfits to look forward to. PUBG Mobile has also posted a teaser about the upcoming addition giving us a hint that there could be a treasure hunt and new in-game items to discover.

If you remember, right before the launch of 0.18.0 update, we had seen some early gameplay and rumours around the jungle mode. During that time the mode included the ability to float around Sanhok using hot-air balloons. There are also places where players would be able to get some jungle food which, upon consumption, will give you the location of all airdrop crates on the mini-map for a limited period. The Mysterious Jungle mode could also witness changes in the spawn lobby at Bhan with some new tribal decorations.

These were just some of the features that we picked up from the 0.18.0 beta update. The final version of the mode could have new additions or could be completely new. Expect the new mode to arrive on June 1.

The official PUBG Mobile social media channel had recently posted a four-piece jigsaw puzzle hinting that something new is around the corner. While some speculated the arrival of the Karakin map from the PC version of PUBG, some believed that it could be the highly anticipated Erangel 2.0. Early gameplay by popular PUBG Mobile YouTuber Powerbang Gaming has revealed that the map currently doesn’t have a name and is called ‘Secret Map’ in the game as it is still under development. The map is like a cross between all the existing ones. So there is snow on the top right, a desert area on the bottom left while the rest is mostly grasslands and trees. There is a rumour that the map could be called ‘Fourex’ since it includes parts of all four maps.

Dark Mode on Google Search Hasn’t Been Released, But You Can Still Try It

The sample of the dark mode in Google web search, available only on Chrome right now, (Image: IANS)

It is still at a rudimentary stage right now, which suggests that dark mode on Google Search is not going to launch as a graphic feature, just yet.

Dark mode is taking over the entire world. The introduction of the dark theme on WhatsApp was a much celebrated addition, while dark mode enhancements to Facebook, Twitter, the entire Android menus and the likes have all been noticed, scrutinised and largely appreciated. However, despite so many system level changes to add a dark theme to almost all apps, Google has conspicuously stayed away from adding a dark theme to Google Search. Now, courtesy of a neat little trick from 9to5Google, you can get a glimpse of how life with the darker side of the search engine can look like.

To get a glimpse of how dark mode works on Google Search, start by raising a query on Google from within Chrome for Android. Once you’ve searched for your desired query, tap on the URL bar, and edit the URL by going to the end of the address and adding: &cs=1. Once you hit enter, the page you searched for will simply reload in all the glory of a wonderful looking dark-themed search page. Unfortunately, the feature is available only on Google Chrome browser on Android, and users of other browsers cannot view the Search dark mode at all.

However, the implementation of the dark mode on Google Search appears half-hearted at best, at least for now. By adding the Chrome framework via the URL, as well as the flag (in Chrome’s developer cycle apps) to turn entire pages into dark themes, Google has offered scope for the feature to be added some time in future. Alternatively, for developers working on their apps and customisations, the framework will allow them to test their products, and see how well the dark theme applies in non-native dark theme pages.

As of now, however, there appear to be some lack of conviction. While Google has added the framework, in our tryst with the system, the profile image that appears at the corner turned into inverted colour. This appears to be a bug since the rest of the colours of the page are in line with how they should be. Still, the contrast between different shades is so high that it does not look like a finished product, at least for now. Given the present situation, it is not yet clear as to when we may expect dark mode as a feature on Google Search, if at all.

WhatsApp Dark Mode for Web: How to Get Dark Theme on WhatsApp Browser Interface

WhatsApp Dark Mode for Web: How to Get Dark Theme on WhatsApp Browser Interface

WhatsApp Web dark mode is not an officially integrated feature, but you can get it easily without disrupting other pages or installing browser plugins.

WhatsApp dark mode can now be implemented in the WhatsApp Web browser client as well, without disrupting other browser pages or installing any plugin on to your browser. The dark mode implementation gives users the darkened theme without taking anything away from the performance of other open tabs on your browser, and it is only a simple little trick that gets the job done.

To get dark mode on WhatsApp Web, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Once the WhatsApp Web client is open, right click on the empty area outside of the chats, and click on the ‘inspect page’ tab. If you cannot see an empty area around your WhatsApp browser client, use Ctrl + ‘-‘ (minus) to zoom out.
  2. Once you click on ‘inspect’, a splitscreen view will open up to show you the coding elements of the WhatsApp Web page. On this section, towards the very top of the chart, find the line that reads body class=“web”.
  3. Double-click on this line to switch on the cursor, and change ‘web’ to ‘web dark’. Now, the line of code here should look like body class=“web dark”.

While the background of the chat windows are set to a super dark shade of olive green, the chat tabs are set to a slightly lighter shade. Received messages show up on a grey text snippet, while sent messages are encased in lighter green bubbles. Despite not being officially baked into the WhatsApp Web client’s settings, the overall dark theme looks quite appealing and professionally put together.

WhatsApp Dark Mode on Android and iOS phones were rolled out with much hype and fanfare. Through 2019, it made for the most wanted WhatsApp feature among its 2 billion-odd active users, and going forward, WhatsApp’s implementation of a system-tied dark theme has been received quite well among its audience.

Facebook has finally rolled out the much-awaited dark mode for PC users. The redesigned feature, according to Facebook, will be simpler and easier to use and will now load faster, giving users experience pretty similar to the mobile app. Interestingly, the feature, which was limited to a select few in the past, will now be available for users around the world. In a statement, Facebook said, “The new Facebook.com is simpler and easier to use, with the features you know and love. We’ll keep improving the experience.” The Dark Mode feature is also expected to help “billions” of users enjoy the app in lower brightness,

“We’ve grown since Facebook.com launched 16 years ago. We’ve built new features, optimized for new devices and operating systems, and expanded to hundreds of languages. Recently we’d focused on the mobile Facebook experience, and realized our desktop site had fallen behind. People need it to keep up,” said Facebook while rolling out the new design.

How to Enable Dark Mode and What Has Changed

To enable the latest dark mode feature on Facebook, users will have to go to “Settings” and then click on “Switch to new Facebook”. The dark mode can be enabled after that by tapping the same arrow. According to Facebook, the dark mode toggle is expected to help “billions” of users enjoy the website by lowering brightness along with contrast and vibrancy, therefore, reducing strain on the eyes in dimly-lit conditions. The interface is also cleaner with bigger texts as well. “It minimises screen glare for use in low light, wherever you are. The new immersive layout along with Dark Mode will also make viewing videos on Watch a great experience,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the simplified design, through its streamlined navigation approach, will make it easier for a user to not make an easy discovery of games but also create Groups, Pages, Events, as well as advertisements on Facebook.

PUBG Mobile Mad Miramar Sandstorm Mode to Arrive on May 12

The latest 0.18.0 update for PUBG Mobile is finally here and it brings a bunch of new features and a wide range of smaller but important changes to the game. One of the biggest features is the new Mad Miramar or Miramar 2.0 update.

Prior to the release of the update it was rumoured that the map would include sandstorms adding an edge to the map with limited visibility. However, the PUBG Mobile has now announced that players can expect sandstorms to hit Miramar starting May 12.

Judging by some videos of an early beta build, the entire map is expected to be covered with a sandstorm, testing your skills to spot enemies in limited visibility. There will also be certain areas on the map that will have heavy sandstorms where visibility is going to be extremely limited, so much so that it would be difficult to see enemies sitting in the next room. There will be special loot crates in these storms. It is expected that this feature might be available for a limited period. The special sandstorm mode does look impressive and will require a lot of power so this mode should work best on high-end phones.

Here’s a quick look at the upcoming mode courtesy YouTube Rey Lagarto:

PUBG Mobile Arctic Mode Goes Live: Everything You Need to Know

PUBG Mobile continues to bring new features for its fans and this time there is a new addition to PlayLab. The new Arctic Mode is finally here after we first saw it in beta back in February. It seems unusual to bring such a mode considering it is already spring season. I guess Tencent is taking inspiration from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the whole survival and stay indoors theme seriously.

The new mode is set on the icy map of Vikendi. Apart from the regular battle royale mode, there’s a new survival twist. Players need to keep a constant eye on their body temperature which will be denoted at the bottom. A timer near the map denotes the oncoming extreme cold wave. Players need to stay indoors in order to survive the cold weather and maintain their body temperature. As the body temperature drops, players will start losing health. Players need to collect branches, warm packs and heaters to stay warm. With that, players can also hunt chickens in the wild and roast them on the fire for extra warmth.

To help players survive the extreme cold weather, there is the addition of drones. Players can use these to search for items while staying indoors and protected from the cold wave. The drones can also be used to search enemies and hunt them down swiftly. These drones come with limited battery life and health, so you need to keep an eye on that as well. The new mode is also adding the ability to use skis, which was first seen during the limited period Winter Mode on Erangel. These can help players in moving around the map faster especially during the cold wave.

The Arctic Mode, as mentioned above, is available under the PlayLab section. This means that it is a separate mode and the results will not be counted under the classic mode. Tell us what you think about the new addition to PUBG Mobile and what more would you like from the game.

UPI Became the Most Preferred Payment Mode for Indians in 2019

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) remained the most preferred mode of payment in terms of volume followed by debit cards, Immediate Payment Services (IMPS) and credit cards, said a new report on Thursday. UPI recorded a transaction volume of 10.8 billion in 2019, a year-over-year increase of 188 percent, said the report from payments company Worldline India (WI).

“UPI is perhaps the fastest product to hit 1 billion transactions-a-month in 2019 since its inception in August 2016,” said the “India Digital Payments Report 2019”. The findings of the report suggest that in India, digital payment products are being primarily utilised for person-to-person (P2P) transactions than person-to-merchants (P2M) transactions. In terms of value, UPI facilitated transactions worth Rs 18.36 trillion, up 214 percent from 2018. Nine banks were added in UPI ecosystem throughout the year, bringing the total number of banks providing UPI services to 143 as of December 2019.

Some of the key factors that powered UPI’s transaction growth in 2019 are the adoption of UPI 2.0 features by banks, enabling payments for IPO applications, facilitating Foreign Inward Remittance service, supporting donations for several relief programs, and numerous cashbacks and discounts offered by banks and non-bank players, said the report. Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) recorded 55 percent year-over-year increase by facilitating about 2.3 billion transactions in volume. It clocked Rs 21.8 trillion in terms of value, up 41 percent from 2018. In 2019, it on-boarded 165 banks under its ecosystem bringing the total number of banks providing IMPS services to the customers of 559 banks by the end of 2019.

“In terms of value, IMPS attained the ‘numero uno’ position throughout the year followed by UPI. Value of debit and credit cards remained nearly the same throughout the year,” said the report. In 2019, UPI, debit cards, IMPS and credit cards together recorded a combined transaction volume of over 20 trillion and a combined value of over Rs 54 trillion, said the report. The country has witnessed full range of Aadhaar enabled banking services through AePS over the past few years.

In 2019, the total volume of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions (ONUS, OFFUS, DEMO AUTH and eKYC) stood at 2.3 billion, achieving year-over-year growth of 12 percent. The value of transactions achieved a milestone of Rs 1 trillion in 2019 with year-over-year growth of 31 percent, said the report. For the research, Worldline analysed transactions available in public databases as well as transactions processed by the company in 2019. Worldline India (WI) is wholly owned by Worldline SA, a leading payments company in Europe that is listed on Euronext Paris. Worldline entered India in 2010 with the acquisition of Venture Infotek followed by the acquisition of MRL Posnet in 2017.

PUBG’s latest update include vests that can now lessen the damage, reduced fuse time for smoke grenades, and the addition of G36C and MP5K weapons to Karakin.

  • Last Updated: February 20, 2020, 6:05 PM IST

PUBG has a new update, which, among other updates, has introduced the much-awaited ‘Team Deathmatch’ mode. The version 6.2 update for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, which is now available for PC players, is now available for downloads. Apart from some incremental improvements and changes in PUBG, the Team Deathmatch mode brings 8v8 FPP fights that happen on seven unique battlefields based on different maps. In this team battle mode, the team which gets the maximum number of kills within a period of 10 minutes, wins.

Furthermore, the update also brings a variety of changes in frag grenades. The vests now have the ability to lessen the damage incurred from frag grenades. Apart from that, the fuse time for smoke grenades has been reduced from 3 seconds to 1 second. PUBG has also added G36C and MP5K weapons to the Karakin map, which too has been updated with a new loot setting. Other refinements include a slight change to the care package aeroplane, which is now going to move faster on the Karakin map.

Adding to the realism in the game’s graphics, the new update has increased blood colour saturation over distance, for a better view. A new feature in terms of PUBG’s PC version is the ability to follow teammates on a parachute. Gamers can choose and follow a teammate until exiting the plane at the start of a battle royale bout.

The update for PUBG was announced on the game’s main Twitter handle, along with a video teaser that details some of the elements that are part of the new update. PUBG and Call of Duty have been staunch rivals on the mobile platform, which has led to polarising fan views and rising popularity for both the games.

PUBG 8v8 Team Deathmatch Mode Set to Arrive in Next Update

PUBG or PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds is set to get a new update which will be bringing a fast-paced 8v8 team deathmatch mode. Update 6.2 is said to be live on the PUBG test server. The new 8v8 TDM mode will be available under Arcade but unlike the game’s original TDM that released in 2018, this one will be even more intense. Matches are set across seven small maps on Erangel (Stalber and Sosnovka Military Base), Sanhok (Paradise Resort and Docks), Vikendi (Podvosto and Peshkova), and Miramar (Campo Militar).

Please note that the new 8v8 team deathmatch is only coming to PUBG on PC, and this is not PUBG Mobile. The new mode will only be available in first-person and of course, you can expect respawns along with eight spawn kits. The team that manages to reach 50 kills or whichever has the highest kills at the end of ten minutes, wins. Just like the regular TDM mode, the new mode will not come with DBNO (Down But No Out) which means if you get shot, you die. You respawn with a brief invincibility period and the more kills and assists you have, the faster your TDM Boost Gauge fills up. Individual scores will be rewarded with BP but there will be no rewards for the Survivor Pass XP.

Apart from the new 8v8 team deathmatch, the new PUBG 6.2 update will also bring some new changes to the game. Expect weapon balancing, peeking mechanism and some new tweaks have been made to the new Karakin map, with adjustments done to the Blue Zone. Similar to PUBG Mobile, a parachute follow feature is also being added to help teammates land together, along with changes to blood effect, skins and items, updated replay system, and some bug fixes.

OnePlus Phones Are Getting Google Assistant's Ambient Mode

OnePlus has announced that it has started rolling out the Ambient Mode for Google Assistant to some of its phones. However, the rollout will be staged, which means that some users will receive it before others. In a company blog, OnePlus wrote, “By partnering with Google, we are excited to bring the Google Assistant-powered “Ambient Mode” to your OnePlus device (available on OnePlus 3 and above).”

This means that the mode will be available for all OnePlus smartphone right from the OnePlus 3 to the latest OnePlus 7T Pro. Giving insights on the Ambient Mode, the company wrote, “It is a “proactive” Google Assistant experience that is available whenever the device is being charged. You can access proactive information and suggestions on weather, agenda, entertainment, reminders, and more. The feature can also be used to turn a phone into a digital photo frame or as the interface to control smart home devices, such as lights, or music players.”

The phone maker also explained the steps to use the Google Assistant Ambient Mode. To do so, one needs to connect their OnePlus device to a charger, click the notification and follow the guidance to finish the setup process. The feature can also be enabled by selecting Google App Settings > Assistant > Devices (Phone).

Google had announced the feature at IFA last year. This mode turns your Android smartphone or tablet into a smart display by showing information from your calendar, the current weather, your notifications, your reminders, music controls, and your smart home controls. It can even show photos from Google Photos, turning your smartphone or tablet into a digital photo frame.
