Tata Sky Broadband Now Offers up to 300Mbps Speeds, But Unlimited Data Plans Get New Prices

Tata Sky Broadband Now Offers up to 300Mbps Speeds, But Unlimited Data Plans Get New Prices

The existing plans now get a slightly higher price tag and there is a new 300Mbps speed plan available as well. And while Tata Sky Broadband calls these ‘Unlimited’, they do have a fair usage policy (FUP) in place.

  • News18.com
  • Last Updated: May 24, 2020, 10:36 AM IST

At a time when home broadband lines are being used more than ever by people working from home, and most internet service providers (ISPs) are supporting them with more data, higher speeds and the promise of faster service, Tata Sky Broadband is also making changes to its broadband tariff plans. In the sense, this is yet another change in the space of a month. The existing plans now get a slightly higher price tag and there is a new 300Mbps speed plan available as well. And while Tata Sky Broadband calls these ‘Unlimited’, they do have a fair usage policy (FUP) in place.

The new Tata Sky Broadband’s unlimited plans now have four options in place, instead of the three earlier. The first is priced a Rs 950 instead of Rs 900 and offers speeds up to 25Mbps. Then there is the Rs 1050 plan which cost Rs 1,000 earlier and offers 50Mbps. The erstwhile Rs 1100 plan now costs Rs 1150 and will get you 100Mbps speed. Now there is a flagship plan for Rs 1900 which offers 300Mbps speed. This brings it closer to the similar speed home broadband plans offered by the likes Airtel Broadband and Spectra, for instance. Earlier, Tata Sky Broadband’s options capped out at 100Mbps speeds.

Tata Sky Broadband also different FUP tiers, depending on which plan you subscribe to. For the 25Mbps, 50Mbps and 100Mbps plans, the monthly data cap for these unlimited plans is set at 1500GB after which the speed reduces to 2Mbps for the rest of the billing cycle. If you opt for the 300Mbps speed plan, your FUP limit is much higher at 3300GB data per month, before you run the risk of having the speed reduced to 2Mbps for the rest of the billing cycle.

Tata Sky Broadband also has Fixed GB plans which are available between Rs 790 per month to Rs 1050 per month, with 50Mbps and 100Mps speed options.

Vodafone Rs 98 Prepaid Recharge Now Offers 12GB 4G Data Instead of 6GB

Image for representation.

The Rs 98 pack from Vodafone previously offered only 6GB data for 28 days.

  • News18.com
  • Last Updated: May 22, 2020, 1:38 PM IST

Vodafone India has revised its prepaid recharge pack priced at Rs 98, to now offer twice the amount of data in comparison to what it offered before. While the Rs 98 prepaid recharge previously offered 6GB of 4G data for 28 days, it has now been revised to offer double data, i.e. 12GB, at the same price. The move comes after market rival Bharti Airtel updated their own Rs 98 prepaid recharge pack to offer 12GB data to users for a 28-day period, instead of 6GB.

According to reports, the Rs 98 prepaid plan is presently available only in select circles. However, News18 could confirm that the plan is already available in major metropolitan circles such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, which indicates that the double data benefit with the Rs 98 plan may be rolled out as a cross-country plan, soon. With Vodafone and Idea being partner operators now, the revision has also been reflected on Idea’s website, where the Rs 98 prepaid plan is now stated to offer 12GB of data, instead of 6GB.

The Vodafone Rs 98 prepaid recharge pack does not come with any calling minutes or SMS benefits. Hence, it only acts as a data top-up plan that can offer users an additional amount of data on top of a base recharge, which itself may come with integrated data benefits. The Rs 98 pack also does not offer any complementary content benefits such as Zee5 or Vodafone Play, which typically come bundled with many prepaid plans.

Free Games: Sony Offers Two Popular PS4 Games for Free to Ease Covid-19 Woes

Sony PlayStation 4 owners are in for a treat, in what surely comes as a rare bit of good news in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Announcing the Play At Home initiative through an official blog post, Sony has revealed that millions of PlayStation 4 owners worldwide will now be able to download two game collections for absolutely free, as a sign of support from Sony Corp to its customer ecosystem. Beginning yesterday, April 16 and valid until May 6, PS4 owners will be able to download the entire Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, as well as Journey, for absolutely free. The best part? The games will not expire from user libraries after a point, and are actually free for as long as they are kept.

Jim Ryan, president and chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, further announced an initiative to support independent game developers during these trying times by announcing a financial aid of $10 million for them. He said during the announcement, “Independent developers are vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community and we understand the hardships and financial struggles that many smaller gaming studios are facing. With that, SIE has developed a fund to support them during this time. We have earmarked $10 million to support our independent development partners. More information about the fund, including participation criteria, will be made available soon.”

Sony’s offer of the free games actually include four full games, with the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection including Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception, three highly acclaimed titles in the PlayStation-exclusive Uncharted title. While the final edition, Uncharted 4: Thief’s End is often regarded as the best edition of the three, Sony’s offer will still be welcomed among the PlayStation ecosystem. With Journey also being a well acclaimed title, the free games offer will apply to millions around the world, who are part of the PlayStation 4 ecosystem.

Sony is set to launch its next generation console, the PlayStation 5, with recent reports suggesting that the PS5 may actually see very limited availability upon launch. The new console will directly rival Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, and is likely to be significantly more expensive than the outgoing PlayStation 4 Pro. However, given that the PS5 does come with backward compatibility, users will be happy to note that their entire collection of PlayStation 4 games will remain active even in PS5.

Delhi Govt Offers Free Online Doctor Consultations with CallDoc App

The Delhi government has joined hands with ‘CallDoc’ app to launch 24×7 free online medical consultation services to help the patients connect with the doctors remotely through the mobile application for their non-emergency medical needs. Through this, the Delhi Health Department said the patients can easily consult with the general physicians as well as specialists from home at any time convenient to them. Announcing this collaboration, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that more than 100 doctors are offering their services for free to provide hassle-free consultations to patients.

“Delhi government is glad to collaborate with ‘CallDoc’ app to bring 24×7 online medical consultations for free to the people of Delhi. This will save the trouble of physical travel for regular OPD visits, especially for the senior citizens. We are proud of the 100+ doctors from Delhi who are offering their services for free via this app,” Jain said. The doctors include are those affiliated to Delhi Medical Council, as well as doctors from Delhi government’s University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), the Health Department added.

The outbreak of coronavirus has put a lot of pressure on the healthcare infrastructure across the globe, including Delhi. The outbreak of the virus has made it difficult for people to visit hospitals and doctors over non-emergency medical issues, with major hospitals being marked as ‘Covid-19 designated’ hospitals. The CallDoc app will help people in such situations, while at the same time reducing the chances of transmission of the dreaded virus at the hospitals and clinics. CallDoc is a cloud-based platform created by Oncall Medicare Pvt. Ltd. to provide citizens with better and faster healthcare at any time and place of their convenience.

“The user is able to connect to a doctor through video or audio or chat and get the consultation over phone by using this mobile app,” the Health Department said. It added that through the mobile app, the patients can upload their test reports for doctors to review. The doctors can upload prescriptions on the app after consultation. The CallDoc app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and ioS store. After downloading, the patient has to select the doctor on the basis of name and specialty and mention the purpose of consultation.

“We at Oncall Medicare are extremely pleased to collaboration with the Delhi government. Our services, along with the well laid network of the Delhi government, will be able to deliver affirmative outcomes and provide relief to the people at large and all the stakeholders,” said Arun Dagar, Founder and Chief Executive of CallDoc app.
