Redmi India has launched its first true wireless earphones, the Redmi Earbuds S, in India less than a month after its parent company Xiaomi introduced the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. Needless to say, the Redmi Earbuds S will have to compete against the Realme Buds Air Neo that launched in India a day before having a price tag of Rs 2,999.

Redmi Earbuds S Specifications and Features

Offering up to 4 hours of battery life on a single charge that can be extended up to 12 hours using the case, the Redmi Earbuds S are IPX-rated for sweat and splash resistance. Weighing just 4.1gms, the wearables feature 7.2mm drivers, connect over Bluetooth 5.0, and promise hands-free voice assistant feature as well. The product is also said to feature a low-latency gaming mode, which will no doubt, benefit gamers by offering a seamless experience without any delay. Apart from these, the earphones bring support for voice assistants as well as environmental noise reduction through the Realtek RTL8763BFR Bluetooth chip. Users will also be able to use either of the earphones individually without pairing separately.

As far as the design and colour of the earbuds are concerned, the Redmi Earbuds S pretty much appears to be the Indian version of the Redmi Airdots S that were launched in China in April. As of now, the Redmi Earbuds S will be sold only in Black colour.

Redmi Earbuds S Price and Availability in India

Priced at Rs 1,799, the Redmi Earbuds S TWS earphones looks pretty affordable compared to the other earbuds currently available. It will go on sale starting May 27 at 12PM on Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Home Stores, and Mi Studio Outlets.

Redmi TV X Series Launch Set For May 26: Everything You Need to Know

Redmi TV X series

Redmi TV X series

The Redmi TV X series will be available in three models – Redmi TV X50, Redmi TV X55, and Redmi TV X65.

  • News18.com
  • Last Updated: May 20, 2020, 3:51 PM IST

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is all set to expand its smart TV operations in the Redmi series lineup by launching the new Redmi TV X series in China on May 26. The smart TVs which will be launched alongside the Redmi 10X smartphone will be available in three models – Redmi TV X50, Redmi TV X55, and Redmi TV X65.

Xiaomi President and Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing took to Weibo to tease the new Redmi TV X series. Interestingly, the number in the name denotes the screen size of the models in inches. However, the company has not shared any other details on the Redmi TV X Series, including the pricing.

It is notable that the Redmi TV X Series will not be the first smart TV launched by Redmi. The company currently sells two Redmi TV models in China – the 98-inch and 70-inch panels respectively. Moreover, if reports from tipster Ishan Agarwal are to be believed, then the Redmi TV X series models could be under Xiaomi’s OLED TV segments. From the poster, it can also be inferred, that the Redmi TV X Series models will offer thin bezels.

As far as India is concerned, which is one of the biggest markets for Xiaomi, it will be interesting to see whether the company plans to launch the Redmi TV X Series in the country. Notably, Xiaomi has already launched its flagship Mi 10 5G phone in India along with other accessories like the Mi Box 4K, Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 and a robot vacuum cleaner. Therefore, questions remain on whether Xiaomi will once again reserve its best TV models for the Chinese market, as always, or will it launch them in India by the end of this year or early 2021.

Here is our recommendation of the highest-rated handsets in the market which you can buy today, for less than 20,000 bucks.

The new Poco X2 is essentially a rebranded Redmi K30 that is selling in China and offers pretty good specifications for the asking price. It is one of the best handsets that you can get as it offers a powerful processor, a 120Hz refresh rate display, and a decent camera package.

Price: Starting at Rs 16,999

Samsung Galaxy A51 Beats Xiaomi Redmi 8 to Become Most Sold Android Phone in Q1 2020

File photo of a Samsung Galaxy A51

The Galaxy A51, which is popular in all regions, particularly across Europe and Asia, captured a 2.3 per cent share of all smartphones shipped globally in this quarter

  • IANS
  • Last Updated: May 14, 2020, 6:49 PM IST

With six million units shipped globally, Samsung Galaxy A51 became the worlds bestselling Android smartphone model in the first quarter of 2020, revealed new research on Thursday. Xiaomi Redmi 8 became the second most popular Android smartphone worldwide in Q1, said the study by research firm Strategy Analytics.

Samsung’s A51 smartphone, which is popular in all regions, particularly across Europe and Asia, captured 2.3 per cent share of all smartphones shipped globally in the quarter, while Xiaomi Redmi 8 grabbed 1.9 per cent market share.

“Global smartphone shipments reached a total of 275 million units in Q1 2020. The Android segment accounted for a dominant 86 per cent share of all smartphones shipped worldwide in the quarter,” Linda Sui, Director at Strategy Analytics, said in a statement. The research revealed that four out of six best-selling Android smartphones are from Samsung. The other two are from Xiaomi.

While Samsung’s Galaxy S20+ held the third position with 1.7 per cent share, Samsung Galaxy A10s, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, and Samsung Galaxy A20s rounded out the fourth, fifth and sixth most popular Android smartphone models worldwide, according to Strategy Analytics.

“As mobile operators have reduced subsidies in recent years, and many countries are now tumbling into post-virus recession, smartphone consumers globally are becoming increasingly price-sensitive and they are seeking out new Android models that deliver the biggest bang for their buck,” said Juha Winter, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics.

The writing on the wall is now clear that many consumers want value-for-money devices with good-enough specs at affordable prices. “Android is entering a post-premium era,” Winter said.

Poco F2 Pro With Snapdragon 865 SoC, 64MP Quad-Cameras, 4,700mAh Battery Goes Official

The Poco brand has taken some wild decisions in the recent past like ‘parting ways’ with parent brand Xiaomi and launching a mid-range smartphone which was essentially a Redmi device. The company originally started off well with its first handset, the Poco F1, about 2 years ago. But it seems that it is now just going to re-purpose handsets made by Xiaomi.

The new Poco F2 Pro is finally here, and as rumours and speculations said, it is the same device as the Redmi K30 Pro. While that might disappoint some fans, it is definitely a big upgrade over the Poco F1. Let’s just hope the company lets you load third-party Android ROMs.

POCO F2 PRO SPECIFICATIONS

Getting to the specifications then, there is a 6.67-inch Full-HD (2400×1080) AMOLED display with a claimed peak brightness of 1,200 nits and support for HDR10. Powering the phone is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, and the company is offering it with either 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM or 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Storage goes up to 256GB (UFS 3.1) but there is no support for further storage expansion via microSD card.

At the back, there is a quad rear camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor, a 5-megapixel telephoto camera, a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, there is a 20-megapixel pop-up camera. The handset comes with a 4,700mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

Rest of the features include dual-SIM card slots, dual-mode 5G (NSA SA), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, IR blaster port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset runs on MIUI for Poco based on Android 10 and comes pre-loaded with the Poco launcher. The handset comes in four colour options – Cyber Grey, Electric Purple, Neon Blue, Phantom White.

PRICE

The handset was announced for the European market yesterday with pricing starting at EUR 499 (Rs 41,500 approx) for the 6GB + 128GB variant, and EUR 599 (Rs 50,000 approx) for the 8GB + 256GB variant. While there is no confirmation for the Indian market, we are expecting the launch to happen soon with prices being comparatively lower.
