OnePlus fans have a reason to cheer as the Chinese smartphone maker may offer wireless charging on its upcoming OnePlus 8 series smartphones. OnePlus recently became a part of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which works with the purpose of developing worldwide compatibility for all wireless chargers and wireless power sources. It is widely assumed that the Chinese smartphone maker would not have joined the consortium without actually planning to add wireless charging to its smartphones. However, the company has not made any announcements as to whether the OnePlus 8 series will have the wireless charging feature.

The WPC website has added OnePlus’s name to its members’ list. With the inclusion of its name, OnePlus has joined the likes of Samsung, LG, Apple, Oppo, HMD Global, Huawei, and Asus. It is believed that OnePlus has managed to keep the cost of its phones low by staying away from including wireless charging support in its smartphones. The Chinese smartphone maker has, however, often spoken of the prowess of its wired fast charging technology to avoid including wireless charging.

The official launch date of OnePlus 8 series is not known, but several leaks have given a hint as to what it could offer. According to reports, the OnePlus 8 Pro will be equipped with a Li-Po battery. It will feature the company’s Fluid AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. It is also expected to come with the new Snapdragon 865 chipset.

Everything We Know About the Apple iPhone 12 Series So Far

This is a big year for Apple as the brand is expected to roll out 5 new iPhones, out of which four will be a part of iPhone 12 series while one phone is expected to be the iPhone 9. Even though, as of now, Apple has not revealed any details around the upcoming phones, there is a lot that has come into the limelight, courtesy of various leaks and rumours. We take a look at all the leaked info around the upcoming iPhone 12 phones:

1. From what is known so far, the iPhone 12 series will be available in three sizes. Two of the phones will have a display measuring 6.1-inches, while the other two phones are likely to have a display measuring 5.4-inches and 6.7-inches respectively.

2. All iPhone 12 will have an OLED display and will be supporting 5G connectivity.

3. In a recently leaked supply chain report, it was revealed that the iPhone 12 phones will be thinner than its predecessor iPhone 11.

4. In terms of camera, it is expected that two of the phones will have a dual camera on the rear, while the other two high-end models will have a triple-lens camera at the back.

5. The phones may also feature a 120Hz refresh rate display. This is the first time Apple will be introducing a 120Hz refresh rate to any of its phones. In 2017, the brand had introduced this feature in their iPad line up. Higher refresh rate means better responsiveness to the gestures, resulting in faster on-screen motion.

6. In a supply chain report, it was said that the upcoming iPhone 12 phones will have the next iteration of Apple’s A-series processors, which is presumed to be the A14. The report asserted that Apple’s partner TSMC will make the A14 processor using a new 5-nanometer process in Q2. The A13 was produced using a 7nm processor, so the A14 should be more power-efficient and faster.

7. iPhone 12 series is expected to go official in September this year.

It is notable that all the information that we have is based on the leaks and speculations floating around the internet. None of this is confirmed so do take it with a pinch of salt.

Xbox Series X Leaked Pictures Confirm Ports, No HDMI-in or USB Type-C

Photos of a pre-production unit of the Xbox Series X suggests that the company is going to remove the HDMI-in port.

Microsoft has only given us a sneak peek at its next-gen gaming console, which is expected to launch in Q4 2020. We hardly have any solid information about the Xbox Series X apart from the fact it looks like a compact PC case. However, some new leaked images have now revealed the range of ports on the upcoming console.

The back panel of the Xbox Series X has been under speculation for a while, but not anymore. Thurrott’s Brad Sams has posted some photos showing the console’s vents, two USB-A ports on the back, one USB on the front, a single HDMI-out, an optical audio port, Ethernet, and a power-in. There is also a rectangular port which is most likely for diagnostics.

While the photos do seem authentic, these are from a prototype unit which means that the finished device could be quite different. However, the photos do make us wonder- why would Microsoft remove the HDMI-in port? If this ends up in the final build of the device, it could pretty much be the end for Xbox’s focus on TV features. Notably, there is no USB Type-C port either which is a shame considering it is now widely accepted.

The upcoming console will be backward compatible with all games, controllers, and accessories that are currently supported by Xbox One. According to Xbox Game Studios there are no immediate plans for first-party games to be exclusive to Xbox Series X. The company expects games to eventually phase out support for older models in the future as their specifications become too demanding.
